Queens Revenge Porn Lawyers: Help for Intimate Image Abuse in Queens County

Queens is one of the most diverse places in the country, and intimate image abuse affects people in every community, from Astoria and Flushing to Jamaica and the Rockaways. If someone posted, sent or threatened to share an intimate photo or video of you, you have several ways to stop it and hold that person accountable.

Veridian Legal represents people across New York City whose intimate images were shared without consent, including images that were faked or altered with AI. Consultations are free and confidential.

What Counts as Intimate Image Abuse

  • Posting or sending a nude or sexual photo or video of you without your consent, even if you took it yourself or agreed to it being taken.

  • Threatening to share intimate images to control, embarrass or extort you.

  • Creating or sharing fake or AI-altered sexual images that look like you (often called deepfakes).

  • Recording you in an intimate setting without your knowledge.

Your Legal Options in Queens

Depending on the facts, you may be able to use several of these at the same time:

  • A lawsuit under New York City law. The City's intimate image law, Admin Code § 10-180, applies in all five boroughs. It allows victims to sue for damages, court orders and attorney's fees.

  • A lawsuit under New York State law. Civil Rights Law § 52-b allows you to sue for compensatory and punitive damages, an injunction, and attorney's fees. It also covers digitally altered images. The deadline is the later of three years after the images were shared or one year after you discovered, or reasonably should have discovered, that they were shared.

  • A federal lawsuit. 15 U.S.C. § 6851 allows you to recover your actual damages or $150,000 in liquidated damages, plus attorney's fees. The court can also let you proceed under a pseudonym.

  • Criminal charges. Sharing intimate images without consent is a crime under Penal Law § 245.15. You can report it to your local NYPD precinct, and a criminal case would generally be prosecuted by the Queens District Attorney's Office.

  • An order of protection. If the person is a current or former partner, a family member or the other parent of your child, you can file a family offense petition in Queens County Family Court.

  • Fast removal from websites. Under the federal TAKE IT DOWN Act, covered platforms must remove nonconsensual intimate images within 48 hours of a valid request. We can help you make those requests and follow up when a site does not comply.

If we file a civil case in state court, it is usually filed in Supreme Court, Queens County or in the county where the person who shared the images lives. We decide on the best court for your case, which may be state or federal court.

If You Do Not Know Who Shared the Images

Many images are posted from anonymous or fake accounts. Platforms and internet providers keep records that can identify the person behind an account, and a court can order them to turn those records over. Learn more about how we unmask anonymous accounts.

What to Do Right Now

  1. Do not contact or confront the person.

  2. Take screenshots that show the image, the website or app, the account name and the date.

  3. Save the links (URLs) and any messages or threats.

  4. Do not delete your own accounts or messages.

  5. Call us. Read more about preserving evidence.

Common Questions

I am worried about my family or community finding out. Can my case stay private?

We take privacy seriously at every step. Under federal law, a court can allow you to sue under a pseudonym, and New York courts can be asked for similar protection. Many matters also resolve without any public filing.

Can you help if the messages and threats are not in English?

Yes. Evidence in any language can support a case. Save the messages exactly as you received them and we will arrange translation as needed.

“I rarely leave reviews, but I am incredibly grateful for Daniel Szalkiewicz and this firm. I researched for days on end to find a reputable and very knowledgeable attorney in my hometown state that could help me get some concrete answers on my constitutional rights as an author for an upcoming published book. With no success, I was advised to contact a NY attorney across the country. This firm was the 2nd firm I called, as the first didn't pick up. Daniel answered the phone after 2 rings. I thought I was going to get the run around like all other attorneys I had previously contacted, but not with Daniel. Not only did he respect my concerns, he went above and beyond to take an immense amount of time allowing me to explain everything.

Daniel and his team worked on my case for years...due to covid. He's fair, responsive and got the judgment I deserved. So thankful to him and his team for all their efforts and time.

I feel so fortunate to have been introduced to Daniel! He was honest, straightforward, worked efficiently and resolved my case. I normally dread interacting with attorneys. What a breath of fresh air!

Daniel has gone above and beyond with me and I am grateful to have him. I talked to many lawyers and I don't feel like anyone that I talked to would have compared.
